The McLain's

My photo
Our journey began October 2005 when we met in our Single's class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. We were engaged in June 2006 and were married on November 17, 2006. JP works for ROMCO as a Product Support Sales Manager and I will begin teaching part-time for the Dallas International School in August 2011. We have one little boy, Merit Cross. God has truly blessed our family.

Memorial Day Fun!

Posing for a picture with Mommy

We had a wonderful time at the Schrader's Memorial Day party. We ate delicious food and went swimming. Merit had a great time too! Thank you Schrader's for having us to your lovely home!

First Bowl of Cereal

Lately Merit has been interested in how JP and I eat our cereal. I make him Malt-O-Meal because it is enriched with more iron then regular cereal. However, on Monday morning I decided to let him try cheerios in milk. He devoured it and asked for more. It was obvious that he loved this new breakfast!

Kissing My Hurt Knee

Merit and I went grocery shopping early Monday morning. We were on our way home and I heard Merit making smacking sounds as if he was kissing something or someone. I looked back at him and he was trying to kiss his hurt knee. He fell earlier in the week and I kissed his knee telling him it would make it feel better. I guess he decided he needed to kiss his knee too. This was definitely one of the cutest things I have seen him do!

Dinner with Aunt Bee & Marcus

We met Aunt Bee & Uncle Marcus for dinner at Luna De Noche at Northpark mall. We always enjoy spending time with them when they come in town to visit. After dinner, we of course walked down the mall and paid a visit to the ducks and turtles. Merit has so much fun watching them eat and swim.

Playing on the Playground

We usually stop at the school playground after our morning walk on Saturday. Merit has so much fun going down the slide, climbing up the steps and trying to crawl up the slide. He is really getting brave!

Loving the New iPad

Merit really likes my Talking Tom app on my iphone. Well, Daddy purchased a new iPad for the family and now Merit really likes the Talking Tom. He giggles over and over again listening to the cat. JP and I say, "I love you Merit" and then the cat repeats it in a silly voice. I think this iPad is going to get a lot of use!

Still Loves His Train!

Placing the letters on and listening to the song

Riding on the train bench

Dropping the letters in the top and watching them shoot out the back

Aunt Alicia, this post is for you! Merit still loves the train you gave him when he turned 1. He enjoys placing the letters on the train and listening to the song that plays. He has recently learned to sit on the bench part and push himself around. What a great gift! I loved it then and really love it now too! We are looking forward to seeing you soon! Love you.

Lunch and Play Time

Debbie and Ashleigh kept Merit on my last day of school. I was done at noon that day so I was able to spend a little time with them too. I picked up lunch for Debbie and then headed to her house. We ate lunch together and then the little ones played outside. Ashleigh and Merit have so much fun together. It is such a joy to watch them.

Trucks and Rocks

Merit really loves playing with his many trucks and cars. We have specific cars and trucks that stay outside and some that are designated for inside play. We loaded up the outside trucks with rocks and sticks and then dumped them out. Merit did this over and over again. He would take the rocks from one trucks and put them in the other truck. It was quite cute. I am definitely convinced that if I allowed him to stay outside all day and evening he would be perfectly happy.

Excited About American Idol!

My parents are big American Idol fans. JP traveled to San Antonio this week, which means we got to see a lot of Mimi. We watched American Idol while we ate dinner and Merit clapped every time the audience clapped. He got pretty excited over the show. What a fun evening!

Watching the Squirrels

On our afternoon walks, Merit likes to look for squirrels. Sometimes the squirrels will let us get really close to them. This little squirrel was eating and didn't mind us watching him. Merit was perfectly content to just sit and watch. However, the storm was quickly approaching so we had to finish our walk and hurry home!

Handsome Boy!

Checking out what's under the lawnmower. He wants to know where the sound comes from.

As you can see, he is very focused on mowing.

Merit decided he'd try riding the lawnmower; that didn't work too well.

I couldn't resist this shot. What a cutie!

He's doing the hand motions to, "I'm a little tea pot" while we sang the song.

I took Merit to get his haircut this afternoon. I didn't want it too short and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I think he looks pretty handsome!
