The McLain's

My photo
Our journey began October 2005 when we met in our Single's class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. We were engaged in June 2006 and were married on November 17, 2006. JP works for ROMCO as a Product Support Sales Manager and I will begin teaching part-time for the Dallas International School in August 2011. We have one little boy, Merit Cross. God has truly blessed our family.

More Tuesday Fun!

Merit asked on Monday if we could go to the bookstore and look at books and play with the choo choo train. How can I resist that request? Especially when it's worded so well. :) So, after our early morning walk we headed to Barnes & Noble. He played with the train set, looked at books, and played with LEGO's. What more could a boy want!

Notice the type of book he's looking at...construction equipment. Oh goodness, like father, like son. :)

So focused and serious when he's building!

"Good Morning Mr. Owl!"

When we walk in the neighborhood Merit has started asking if we can go see the owl. One of our neighbors has this cute little owl sitting on his mailbox. I pretend I'm the owl and talk to Merit. He thinks it's so funny! He talks back to him too. On another note, this house is one of my favorite houses in our neighborhood. Their yard always looks beautiful! And, I love the big porch with white pillars. So classic!

My First Electric Toothbrush!

Merit is completely enthralled with his new toothbrush. It was one of the items in his Easter basket. I think it's Crest Kids My Way Spin Brush. It came with a ton of stickers so you can personalize it. Merit and I had so much fun filling it up with stickers and putting his name on it. I love that he thinks brushing his teeth is fun!

Play Dough + Cookie Cutters = Big Fun!

We used some of our favorite cookie cutters to make play dough shapes. Merit wanted to make a car with every color play dough we had. What a fun way to play with play dough!

Fruit Loops Flowers

We made pretty Fruit Loops flowers Monday morning. We made two big ones and two little ones. I drew the stems and then drew a circle with glue. Merit loved picking out the different color Fruit Loops for his flowers. He placed a yellow fruit look in the center of each flower. Check out our finished product...beautiful Spring art!

Easter Sunday - He Has Risen!

Daddy styled Merit's hair Easter morning. He looked so handsome just like Daddy! J.P. really likes his new haircut. He said, "finally, a big boy haircut with some style"!

There was a duck in the Prestonwood fountain Easter morning! Merit thought this was pretty neat.

Cute boy admiring the balloons at church.

After the early service we enjoyed breakfast at one of our favorite spots, Original House of Pancakes. Merit got his first taste of a Mocha Latte.

Obviously, he thought it was pretty tasty. He kept asking for more. :)

The pancakes were quite yummy too!

After breakfast, we took some pictures in the front yard and gave Merit his Easter basket.

Merit got a new spin toothbrush, a book about the story of Easter, stickers, grow bugs capsules and his favorite item was the new Hot Wheels monster truck.

He now has two of these and wanted to take them in the car later that day.

Nana's House

Merit got to meet some of his extended family this weekend. Nana's grand kids from Corpus Christi were visiting. He really had fun playing with the big kids. They rolled and jumped in the pillows, played cars, played tag and basically just enjoyed playing together. Thank you Nana for having us over!

Cuddling with Nana and watching a bit of a movie.

Saturday Egg Hunt!

First Baptist of Richardson puts on a really wonderful Spring Festival for the kids. We took Merit last year and this year we invited his friends from Ms. Brenda's house. Matthew and his parents met us there and these two had the best time together. They went down the slide and through the maze over and over again. They enjoyed watching the animals and petting them too. Merit decorated a sugar cookie and then thoroughly enjoyed eating it. The egg hunt was great fun! Merit did a really good job and came home with quite a lot of eggs. We were really glad we went again this year!

Cookie decorating and eating...yum!

Fueling with some water before the big hunt.

Ready for the hunt to begin and waiting to hear, "Ready, set, go!"
Two handsome boys.

My sweet boy.

Rice Krispies...Snap, Crackle, Pop!

Merit does a great job eating cereal with a spoon these days. On this particular morning he really liked listening for the snap, crackle and pop in his bowl. Look at that silly face!
