We had an unexpected visit from Nana this week. We were really excited to see her! She had been out of town for a while and we had really missed seeing her. We ate lunch together and then she and Merit played on the iPad. Nana thought it was pretty neat how Merit likes the iPad and that he knows exactly what to do with it. Merit went down for his nap while Nana was here and then she left before he work up. The first words out of Merit's mouth when he woke us were, "Nana, Nana". I explained to him that Nana had gone home to her house. He was not very happy that Nana was gone. :( We will look forward to our next visit with Nana!

Mowing LIke Daddy
He loves the sound this pretend lawn mower makes.
"Oh, please don't run into the walls Merit!"
Grammy and Papa D bought Merit this lawn mower for Christmas and he still loves pushing it around the house. He really loves chasing the dogs with it! The dogs, especially Cali are terrified and run as fast as they can to get out of the way. Poor doggies! :(

Dipping Food
Yum! BBQ chicken quesadillas! They'd be even better with some dipping sauce!
Dipping his quesadilla
Taking a big bite of his delicious lunch!
The look of one very satisfied customer.
Lately, Merit likes to dip his food in some sort of sauce. He liked ketchup, salsa and BBQ sauce. I guess it's fun to dip your food? Whatever the case, the thoroughly enjoys it. :)

The Ranger Game!
Merit was pretty excited about going to watch the Rangers play!
Singing the National Anthem
He was in complete awe when he walked outside and saw the crowd of people and the field.
He thought the chairs were really neat!
Clapping for the Rangers
Cute family pic!
He really liked the big comfy chairs inside the box. He enjoyed the food too!
J.P.'s office had a box at the Ranger game on Friday night and we took Merit. It really was his first Ranger game because the other ones he has been too he was too little to know what was going on. This time he definitely knew what was going on and he was very excited. He had so much fun going in and out of the glass door in the box. He did not like it when the crowd roared and chanted. He cried a couple of times when it was really loud; it was pretty funny. He got over the loudness pretty quickly and definitely enjoyed himself. What a great family outing!

Funny!
Merit is doing some pretty funny tricks these days. This is one of his latest tricks; stacking things like his cup, on top of his water bottle. We try very hard not to laugh or we just turn our heads and laugh. As you know, we don't want to encourage playing at the dinner table. Oh the challenges.

Great Positioning!
Wow! Look at that stance! I think he might be playing a little football in the future. :) Of course, he'll have to play baseball too!

Feeding the Ducks
Wish you could see his big smile. :)
The smile faded a bit after the duck got his finger! :(
This activity will be even more fun when it gets a little cooler. Merit loves "duckys"! Every time we drive by a pond or some kind of body of water he calls out, "duckys, duckys". It is so cute! We took Cali and Maui with us and they had a great time too. Maui really enjoyed chasing and scaring the ducks. Merit enjoyed giving the ducks pieces of bread and just watching them. What a great night!
Just in case you want to go! Duck Creek is a park in Richardson. http://www.cor.net/parksandrecreation.aspx?id=4096
Fun at Home Depot
"Look Mommy, I climbed up here all by myself!"
"Now, how do I get down from up here???"
Climbing down very cautiously
We stopped by Home Depot to pick up some light bulbs on our way to dinner Sunday night. Merit loves going to Home Depot and Lowes. I think it's because they are such big places and it probably looks like a large play ground to him. Anyway, before I knew it he had made him way to the top of one of the ladders and had the biggest grin on his face. Of course getting down was the problem. After a little encouraging, he made him way down and then smiled with satisfaction.
Growing Way Too Fast!
Ready for some yard time
Is that a bug???
Inspecting his discovery
Helping Mommy in the yard
Merit loves to help water the flowers; the flowers aren't looking too good these days.
Throwing the baseball! What an arm!

Saturday Night Church Party
Keller and Merit having fun
Merit and Carson hugging the William's family dog, Bailey.
Being silly on the way home; it was way past bedtime.
We had a class party on Saturday night and Brad & Leah's new home. Wow! They had done an amazing job with the house in just a couple of weeks. We ate all sorts of yummy food and the kids had a blast playing together. Merit especially enjoyed hugging and playing with Bailey, the dog. He has never met a dog he doesn't like. Merit learned a new word on our way there and then continued saying it all of the way home. The road to their house was very bumpy and JP and I told him it was bumpy. He laughed and said, "it's bumpy" and then giggled. Of course we praised him as if he had just finished first place in a race. He just laughed, giggled and said it over and over again. What a smart boy.

Playing With Mimi
Mimi spent some time with us this week while Daddy traveled to Chicago. We had fun playing with the water ball and just hanging out. Merit loves Mimi. He likes calling out her name while running through the house. He also likes how silly she is with him. And, look at our new fence! Wow! Thank you Buzz Fence! It looks beautiful! http://buzzfence.com/index.shtml If you need a new fence you should definitely call them. Great service and fast too!
Merit and Trash
Merit is doing some pretty funny things lately. One of the most recent is throwing away trash. He surprised me a few days ago by finishing a package of fruit snacks, getting up off the couch, and taking the wrapper to the trash can. I asked him what he was doing and he repeated the word, "trash" several times. It was hilarious! Now, anytime he sees paper or anything resembling trash on the floor, he goes to the trashcan and throws it inside. He was lifting the lid with his hands but these pictures show him using the floor pedal to raise the lid. I decided I might as well teach him how to properly use the trashcan. :) Fun times!
