The McLain's

My photo
Our journey began October 2005 when we met in our Single's class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. We were engaged in June 2006 and were married on November 17, 2006. JP works for ROMCO as a Product Support Sales Manager and I will begin teaching part-time for the Dallas International School in August 2011. We have one little boy, Merit Cross. God has truly blessed our family.

Fun at Acura

I don't really enjoy going to Acura because I don't like waiting on my car. When I plan to have something done to my car then I tell them ahead of time that I'd like a loan car for the day. However, an oil change is fast and we did not plan on being there very long so we decided to wait. Merit absolutely loves going to Acura because he enjoys playing in their toy room! When I woke him up and told him we were going he was so excited. He got dressed very quickly and didn't even want to eat breakfast. Too funny! At least one of us enjoys going!

Sitting in the car like a big boy without his car seat. We did not drive anywhere like this. :)

All Propped Up

Merit is suddenly very congested and sneezing. It must be something in the air because I am a little congested as well. I told him he could use my pillow tonight and if he'd prop himself up then he'd be able to breathe a little easier. I snuck into his room and took a picture of how he fell asleep. What a smart boy! He listened to Mommy. I hope he sleeps well!

A Perfect 10!

We are watching a lot of the Olympics these days. One of our favorite events to watch is gymnastics. Merit has been imitating the gymnasts and tonight just I had to capture this!

Aunt Bee & Uncle Marcus Visit!

Aunt Bee and Uncle Marcus came in from Arkansas to visit Papa and the rest of the family. We met them for dinner at one of our favorite places, Twisted Root Burger Co. Papa couldn't wait to take them to this place becuase he really loves it too! They were so surprised at how tall Merit has grown since last seeing him. We had a wonderful time catching up with Aunt Bee and Uncle Marcus! After dinner, Marcus treated us to frozen yogurt. Merit especially loved this part of the evening!

More Pretty Flowers

Merit really enjoys making these pretty coffee filter flowers. And, I like displaying the finished product on my kitchen table! So pretty!

Monday Haircut

Merit and I both needed haircuts before leaving for our trip to the beach. So, Merit had his cut on Monday and I had mine cut on Wednesday. He looks so handsome; just like Daddy!

This Boy Loves to Read!

This is what I typically wake up to each morning. J.P. and I read to Merit every night at bedtime and after we leave he reads a little more. Or, maybe I should say a lot more! He just started telling us that he is going to read a couple of books to Snuggies before he goes to sleep. How cute is that!

Saturday Fun at the Galleria

Saturday morning Merit and I enjoyed the kids show featuring Kellogg the Clown. He is a part of the Ringling Brothers circus. Merit really enjoyed the juggling and his other silly tricks.

Later that evening, we went back to the Galleria for dinner at Mi Cocina's. We got a seat with a great view of the ice rink. Merit loved watching the people skate!

After dinner Daddy wanted to take Merit to Nestle to get a cookie. Merit picked out a giant cookie on a stick. What a treat! However, I only let him have a few bites. We saved the rest for later. :)

Happy boy with this colossal cookie!

Delicious!

Hands

Love how these pics capture the size of Merit's sweet, little hands.  :)

Shopping for baby Victoria

Merit really had a great time shopping with me at Buy Buy Baby. I picked out a wonderful gift for baby Victoria and he pushed a basket and collected balls. What fun!

Treasure Collection

I really love the activities and crafts Ms. Brenda does with the kiddos. On Friday morning Merit and I went on a little treasure hunt around our yard for rocks, seeds, plants, and feathers. We gathered a nice bag of items and took them to Ms. Brenda's house. She had mixed up a batch of salt dough. 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of water and 1 TB of oil. She pressed the mixture into cleaned meat trays and then let the kids press their items into the dough. The dough dried overnight and now Merit has a neat treasure display to keep. I can't wait to do this while we are in Florida next week! We plan to also bring some items back for the kids at Ms. Brenda's so they can make another treasure collection and this time it will be a beach and ocean themed treasure display. What fun!
