The McLain's

My photo
Our journey began October 2005 when we met in our Single's class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. We were engaged in June 2006 and were married on November 17, 2006. JP works for ROMCO as a Product Support Sales Manager and I will begin teaching part-time for the Dallas International School in August 2011. We have one little boy, Merit Cross. God has truly blessed our family.

Hanging with Cali

Hard Eight BBQ with Friends

Hanging out with Jessica & Andrew

Tim showing Merit his Tom Cat app on his phone

Big smile from Merit when he heard the cat talk

Tim does not like having his picture taken; I'm sure you can tell! Baby Griffin is coming very soon!

We met our friends at Hard Eight BBQ, one of our favorite BBQ spots, on Saturday night. We had a great time catching up and hearing about each other's week. Holly has three more weeks to go before baby Griffin arrives; however we are all predicting baby will come sooner! We shall see!

Cloring at My Table

Looking for just the right color

Really concentrating

This is fun!

I bought Merit his first coloring book and put it in his Easter basket. We have been practicing and working on not eating the crayons. I'm pretty sure he knows he is not supposed to eat them because when he put one in his mouth today he looked at me and smiled. I told him they are not to eat they are used for coloring. He took the crayon out and started to color. He is really getting smart!

Playing With Daddy

Mouth wide open laughing!

Merit really loves for JP to spin him around and around. I'm always afraid he is going to get too dizzy but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. He just giggles over and over again. When J.P. stops spinning him he wants him to do it again. It is quite adorable to watch these two.

Looking handsome in the outfit Mimi gave him last weekend.

Headphones

Look at those chubby cheeks! He has so much fun playing with Daddy's headphones!

Daddy's Sonic Drink

Anytime JP's Sonic drink is in Merit's reach he goes for it. It is usually the end of the Diet Dr. Pepper so it's mostly ice and watered down DP. However, it makes him smile very big. He definitely knows he's not supposed to drink it. I don't want little Merit to inherit his Daddy and Papa D's addiction!

Improvements!

Front flower bed

Flowers around the tree in the front yard

My favorite yet! I love the colors on these Geraniums!

I have spent a lot of time in the yard over the past few weeks. It has taken a long time just to get ready to start planting. Luckily, my mom is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. I am so grateful for her! It's really looking good!

Helping Mommy in the Yard

Merit loves to use one of my shovels and help me do yard work. He really thinks he's helping! So sweet. Look at that smile. He follows me around and digs in various spots in the beds. Right now we are working on not picking the petals off of the flowers. I think he is catching on.

Signing "love" for Mommy.
Signing "love" for Mimi too!

We had so much fun celebrating Easter with some family and some of our closest friends. Amber and Tony joined us and so did Tim and Holly. What a treat to have them! Aunt Nancy came over and brought her grandson, Nethaniel. Merit had a great time playing with Nethaniel. Nethaniel was so sweet with Merit and brought him a touch & feel Bible story book. Papa enjoyed spending time with Merit and we loved having him over. My mom helped me with the dinner and some yard work too! We spent a lot of time Saturday planting flowers in our front yard and I spent time in the working in the backyard on Friday. We had a delicious meal consisting of: honey baked ham, scalloped potato casserole, green bean bundles wrapped in bacon, deviled eggs, baked beans and rolls. I made yummy strawberry cupcakes with strawberry cream cheese icing for dessert. What a great Easter celebration!

Feeding the Ducks with Mommy

I took Merit to feed the ducks while J.P. mowed Sunday afternoon. I think the ducks had been fed a lot because they weren't too interested in our bread. Merit ate a little of the bread himself though. :) We had a great time watching the birds and the ducks. I love being with my sweet Merit!

Easter Sunday & Basket

Happy Easter! Jesus is risen! He is alive! Those are the phrases I said to Merit right when we got him out of bed this morning!

Daddy's Easter gift to Merit. Well...Daddy will have to assist him with this one.

Merit's Easter basket was overflowing with goodies!

He absolutely loved the bunny. He immediately took the bunny and gave it a big hug. Look at that smile!

I bought Merit a book that tells the Easter story and coorelates it to the Easter basket. Really cool!

Off road truck that is friction powered...it reads, "Keep on Trustin' Jesus".

Merit's first coloring book and crayons!

Trying out his new truck!

Ready to open his new bubbles!

We went to the 9:30 service this morning. The music was beautiful! What a blessing to be able to hear such outstanding worship music on Easter Sunday! We gave Merit his Easter basket when we got home. He had so much fun looking at all of his goodies!
