The McLain's

My photo
Our journey began October 2005 when we met in our Single's class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. We were engaged in June 2006 and were married on November 17, 2006. JP works for ROMCO as a Product Support Sales Manager and I will begin teaching part-time for the Dallas International School in August 2011. We have one little boy, Merit Cross. God has truly blessed our family.

Lunch on the Patio

Merit and I enjoyed lunch on the patio today. We both are having major allergy issues right now but it is so pretty outside. It is hard to resist soaking up the sunshine. He is not able to climb up onto every chair and couch we own. The table is a little too high for him but he really liked sitting at the table and eating like a big boy. We played in the sand box and did a little work too. I pulled weeds and prepared some of the flower beds. Merit used my hand shovel and he really thought he was helping me. He is so much fun these days!

At the Car Wash

Merit and I went to the car wash after school on Thursday. He wasn't real sure about this. He kept pointing to the car and looking at me as if to ask, "why are you doing this to our car?". It was pretty funny.

Reading and Barking!

Merit has always enjoyed me reading books to him. JP reads to him too. He usually points to pictures and he wants me to tell him about each one. The farm animal book in these pictures is one of his favorites. I always make the animal sound that goes with the picture. This week he started trying to make the sounds too!

When we get to this page he makes the "brmmm, brmmm" sound like a tractor.

When Merit turns to this page he has started making barking noises. It is so funny!

Eating Mommy's Protein Bar!

Merit woke up early this morning and I wasn't quite ready for work yet. When this happens I let him sit on my bathroom counter while I finish. He is perfectly content to watch me, talk, or play with whatever I have on the counter. Well, he was being awfully quiet and then I heard a rattling sound. He had opened my protein bar and started nibbling on it. What a cutie!

Having Fun in the Yard with Mommy!

I picked up a couple of pinwheels at Target because I though Merit might like them. He had so much fun watching them spin in the wind.

Action shots of Merit getting kissed by Cali. He begs for kisses from the dogs. It is hilarious!

 Looking cool wearing Daddy's Oakley's.

I'm so happy that my little boy still takes such great naps. When I get home from work we have from 4 until 9 to play. Lately we are having so much fun playing outside. Sometimes we go for a walk and other times we play in the backyard with the dogs. I treasure every moment with my sweet Merit.

Daddy's

Merit got a hold of Daddy's silencers. He wears them for car races, at the shooting range, etc. Well, Merit thinks they are very cool. He wanted us to help him put them on and then he kept taking them off and putting them on JP. It was so adorable!

I went back to Brighton this weekend to add some more charms. I added a cross to represent Merit's middle name and Jesus' importance in my life. I added a September birthstone charm to represent Merit's birth month. Then I added a heart with a little boy on it to show how much love I have for my sweet Merit.

My New Mommy Bracelet

My mom wanted to buy me a piece of jewelry for my birthday. I decided I'd really like to have some sort of mommy bracelet. I have my "Merit" necklace but I thought it would be neat to have something else to represent Merit. So, we first looked at James Avery and I didn't find what I was looking for. My mom suggested we try some other stores. She took my to Brighton and I grew pretty excited when I saw their new collection of charms and bracelets. They had so many choices. What fun! I proceeded to design a bracelet. This is what it looked like at first.

Walking Cali

J.P. is teaching Merit how to walk the dogs. Of course we are doing this in the safety of our own backyard. Merit thinks it is really neat to lead Cali on the leash. What's really amazing is that Cali seems to know that Merit is leading her and therefore she needs to be on her best behavior. She is very calm and walks very slowly with Merit. She is not like this when we walk her. A guess dogs truly are a boy's best friend.
